SKB rack cases

A family of rotomoulded 19-inch rack cases combining rugged outer protection, shock isolationa nd practical deployment features.

SKB offers a broad family of 19-inch rack cases for electronic systems that need protection during transport and repeated deployment. The range includes removable 3RR shock racks, other roto shock rack formats and rolling configurations designed to make heavier electronic systems easier to move.

The R-Series shock racks use a rotomoulded Linear Medium Density Polyethylene shell and an inner rack isolated by eight elastomeric shock absorbers with a standard 19-inch frame accommodating conventional rack-mounted electronics. The 3RS has a static or fixed frame, while the 3RR has a removable rack frame that can slide out of the body for equipment access and bench integration and wiring.

Across the wider SKB rack family, different rack depths, U heights, shock configurations and mobility options allow B&D to select an appropriate starting point for the system being protected.

Why choose this solution?

Barum & Dewar works with an extensive range of established protective case and container manufacturers, allowing us to focus on finding the right solution for your application rather than promoting a single product or material.

Shock-isolated equipment frame
Elastomeric shock absorbers reduce the transfer of transport and handling loads to sensitive rack-mounted electronics.
Standard 19-inch compatibility
SKB 3RS and 3RR frames follow the standard 19-inch format with current products referencing EIA/ECA-310-E.
Removable rack options
The 3RR inner frame can be removed for integration or servicing, supporting systems that need regular technical access.
Range of rack heights and depths
3RS and 3RR products span multiple U heights, with 20-, 24-, and 30-inch rail depths available across the family.
Military-standard construction
3RS and 3RR products are compliant with MIL-STD-810H.
Expert design

Designed around your equipment

B&D reviews the complete installed system rather than selecting the rack on U height alone. Equipment weight, depth, centre of gravity, sensitivity, cabling, user access and the transport environment all influence the correct shock and case configuration.

The rack can then be integrated with additional internal metalwork or ancillary accessories as required, creating a complete system that is ready for transport and practical for operators to deploy.

Why Barum & Dewar?

B&D has worked with SKB since 2011 and has applied SKB cases and racks within complex defence and deployed communications programmes. Our role is to combine SKB’s product platform with the design and integration required for the customer’s specific electronic system.

Because B&D also supplies other rack technologies, the selection remains consultation-led and based on the equipment, payload, environment and operational requirement.
