Chess Dynamics had specified certain pieces of kit, including part numbers, and had an extremely tight deadline for delivery – just three weeks.
The tight turnaround of three weeks instantly ruled out the originally requested items and after discussion and collaboration between Barum & Dewar and Chess Dynamics, the team at Barum & Dewar looked at similar suitable alternative racks and cases that would answer the original brief but that could also be supplied on a very tight lead time.
The Barum & Dewar team identified a suitable rugged case, 19” racks and additional accessories that could be supplied in time.
Thanks to its great relationship with trusted supply partners, Barum & Dewar was able to reserve the stock of the cases ahead of the award of the actual order. Other supply partners also provided tremendous support to Barum & Dewar in producing and delivering the 8U and 12U racks and accessories for this order, which are usually on very long lead times.
In order to meet the supply deadline of three weeks, Barum & Dewar proposed initially fitting the cases with a standard foam insert to allow its team to design suitable custom foam inserts which would be subsequently ordered, manufactured and delivered separately.
Chess Dynamics received their order within the agreed time frame and was happy to be able to quickly and easily retro fit the custom foam inserts in the field.
Barum & Dewar’s flexible approach and ability to offer alternatives and supply on time means that Chess Dynamics has been able to fulfil its contractual obligations and deliver its goods in professional, rugged racks and cases without missing deadlines.
