DELTA® is Barum & Dewar’s flexible protective case and container system, developed for projects where fixed standard sizes or conventional case formats do not provide the right answer.
Rather than selecting from a predetermined set of dimensions, DELTA solutions can be configured around the equipment. Heights, depths, panels, internal structures and handling features can all be considered as part of the design, allowing B&D to optimise the protection around the payload and how it needs to move.
The DELTA range includes bespoke cases and containers as well as highly configurable 19-inch rack systems.
DELTA reflects B&D’s design-led approach to protective packaging. Aluminium extrusions can be combined with lightweight aluminium or plastic honeycomb panels to create strong reusable structures without imposing the dimensional constraints associated with many standard cases.
The system has been applied to projects ranging from deployable electronic racks to large containers for high-value Space and Aerospace equipment. Customisation can extend beyond the external dimensions to handles, castors, stacking features, support brackets, cable management, connector panels and internal equipment interfaces.
For clients, this means the packaging can be designed around the equipment from the outset rather than adapting the equipment or operational process around an available case.

DELTA starts with the brief.
Our design team considers the equipment geometry, mass, centre of gravity and sensitivity alongside transport, lifting, loading, storage and operator access. Using 3D CAD, the container and its internal components can then be developed together before manufacture begins.
For electronics this may involve shock-mounted rack frames, connector panels, brackets and access requirements. For larger equipment it can include interface plates, wire shock mounts, castors, removable sections or handling aids.
This makes DELTA particularly useful where standard protective cases would introduce compromises in size, weight, access or performance.
